Do's and Don'ts on the Day of Your Photoshoot

Your photoshoot day is finally here! Whether it's family portraits, senior photos, branding headshots, or a maternity session, the day can feel exciting - and sometimes a little nerve-racking. At DK Brittain Photography, I've helped many clients have smooth, stress-free sessions. Here are some simple dos and don'ts to help you look and feel your best.

Green Check markDO: Arrive Early

Give yourself extra time to arrive at your location. This helps you avoid feeling rushed or stressed, and it gives you a few minutes to relax before we start shooting. When you're calm, your photos look more natural.

Red XDON'T: Try Something New Last Minute

The day of your session is not the time to experiment with a brand-new hairstyle, heavy spray tan, or different makeup style. Stick with what you know works and feels like you. You'll feel more confident, and that confidence shows on camera.

Green Check markDO: Bring Essentials

A few small items can make a big difference. Consider bringing:

  • Water
  • Lip balm or lipstick for touch-ups
  • A brush or comb
  • Comfortable shoes if walking between spots

These quick fixes help keep you looking polished throughout your session.

Red XDON'T: Stress About Posing

You don't need to know how to pose - That's my job! I'll guide you every step of the way. Some of the best photos happen when you're simply interacting naturally and having fun.

Green Check markDO: Trust the Process

Relax, smile, and enjoy the experience. The more you let yourself be present in the moment, the better your photos will turn out.

Final Thoughts

Your only real job on the photoshoot day is to show up prepared and ready to have fun. I'll handle the rest. When you follow these simple do's and don'ts, you'll end up with images you'll love for years to come.
